Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman tackled a potential thief who had ransacked a room and punched a member of staff at the Glasgow hotel he’s currently staying in.
The 44-year-old is said to have dragged the fleeing teen to the ground to subdue him, moments after arriving at the hotel from Newcastle, where he had been at a concert with his parents.
Barrowman stopped the youngster in his tracks after a woman and her husband had woken to find two boys ransacking their room in the early hours of Thursday and a hotel worker was punched.
“I grabbed the kid’s ankles, yanked him to the ground and then pulled him out into the hallway. I pinned him down.
“My tour manager then arrived and the three of us held him down until the police came.”
But the kind hearted TV personality, who married partner Scott Gill at Cardiff’s St David’s Hotel in 2006, claimed he’d like to offer the troubled teen a job backstage in his panto at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, saying: “It was sad. He was only 14 or 15. I think he was on drugs.
“But I’d like to find out the boy’s story and give him a second chance.
“Maybe he could work in the pantomime over Christmas to give him a sense of responsibility.”
It’s been a big news week for Doctor Who, with some major announcements and rumors floating around the web about Series 7. The BBC has made a formal announcement that they have commissioned 14 new episodes for 2012, including a Christmas Special, which has become a tradition for the new era of Doctor Who.
Additionally, Steven Moffat and the BBC have also confirmed that Matt Smith will be continuing his role as the Doctor in Series 7 during 2012, following some silly rumors online that he was stepping down. With the official confirmation from the BBC, the rumors were put to rest… but that didn’t stop Moffat and others lay out some clues as to what else we might be seeing in Series 7.
Following the official announcements from the BBC, John Barrowman (aka Captain Jack Harkness from Torchwood) revealed in an interview with Zap2It that the return of Captain Jack to Doctor Who has been discussed between Russell T Davies and Steven Moffat. “I’ve always said that if I’m asked to go back to Doctor Who, I’ll go at the drop of a hat,” Barrowman says. “That’s where Captain Jack got his beginnings. And it’s already been discussed.”
There have been some hints and tips about the potential return for Captain Jack Harkness over the last couple of years, and it’s inevitable the character will return at some point: he was created by Steven Moffat to begin with. In reality, it’s a matter of timing and fitting everything into everyone’s schedule.
However, it seems that Steven Moffat already has plans for Barrowman for Series 7 – and they involved the enigmatic River Song (Alex Kingston).
THIS IS NOW OFFICIALLY THE PETITION TO HAVE JOHN BARROWMAN BACK ON DOCTOR WHO. REBLOG IF YOU CARE AT ALL FOR EITHER OF THESE THINGS OR THE FUTURE AT ALL.
